Half the World Away is a song by the English band Oasis, penned by lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. The song was originally released as a B-side to the single Whatever in December 1994. It became widely known as the theme tune for the British television series The Royle Family. The songs lyrics reflect feelings of alienation and a longing to escape.
