Chiquitita foi escrita pelos membros da banda ABBA, Benny Andersson e Björn Ulvaeus. A música foi lançada em 1979 como um single do álbum Voulez-Vous. A inspiração para essa música veio de uma visita a ONU em 1978, onde eles decidiram contribuir para o UNICEF. A música fala sobre animar um amigo que está passando por momentos difíceis, o que foi uma abordagem temática comum em muitas canções do ABBA.
