Words was composed by brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb, members of the Bee Gees. It was inspired by the frequent arguments between Barry and his then-girlfriend, reflecting on how words can be powerful to both hurt and heal. Released in 1968, it became one of the bands biggest hits and a symbol of the 60s.
Smile an everlasting smile A smile can bring you near to me Don't ever let me find you gone 'Cause that would bring a tear to me
This world has lost its glory Let's start a brand new story now, my love Right now there'll be no other time And I can show you how, my love
You think that I don't even mean A single word I say It's only words and words are all I have To take your heart away
It's only words and words are all I have To take your heart away
